CANON: 19 Days
CANON POINT: Chapter 321 and CRAU
lagunbiru
AGE: 19
BACKGROUND: Wiki
However, before He Tian asks Guanshan about the piercings, He Tian gets in trouble with school for getting one of the lowest scores on a test and then destroying a window when he blocks a can of soda that She Li threw down to him and Guanshan. He then once again tells She Li to back off.
After He Tian buys Guanshan a pair of earrings, he makes Guanshan tell him how he met She Li.
Lagunbiru CRAU history:
When He Tian arrived at Lagunbiru station, Mo Guanshan had already been there for about five months. During that time, Guanshan had the opportunity to discover things about himself, his sexuality and desires, as well as work up self-confidence that he hadn’t had before. He’d also had the opportunity to become economically independent and was considerably wealthier than He Tian. This essentially tossed their entire dynamic on its head and reversed their roles. Guanshan was no longer dependent on He Tian in the way that he had, for better or worse, been back home. Because of this, Guanshan felt comfortable setting down boundaries and rules in their relationship that he hadn’t before, and He Tian, as he slowly realised just how important Guanshan is to him, ended up going along with them.
While you can say that He Tian might love Guanshan, it’s also apt to call He Tian’s attachment to him an unhealthy obsession. During his stay in Lagunbiru, He Tian didn’t really form any close attachments except to, potentially, one or two select people (one of whom is in Prismatica, and whose player I am still in touch with). Guanshan, however, did, both on a platonical and romantic level. He Tian had to come to terms with this fact, and he did try, because he truly does care for Guanshan and knows very well that he has no right to control him.
When his time in Lagunbiru came to an end, he was genuinely trying to be better. It was going pretty well, too.
PERSONALITY:
One of the popular guys in school. Charming like hell, loved by all, makes everybody around him swoon. He Tian is put together, smart, handsome, charming, and exudes sexuality. People either flock to him or stay away out of intimidation. He's the Gary Stu, the Gary Stu is him.
Real talk, though, He Tian is a dickhead. He enjoys watching people tripping over their feet around him, trying to please him or flirt with him or befriend him. But he's also so used to how people respond to him that when someone comes along and reacts in a different way, it catches his attention. It makes him want to poke and prod and mess with them, and there's little he enjoys more. He doesn't really have any idea what it's like to feel uncomfortable, though he knows how others look when they are.
At first Jian Yi had seemed like he'd be an entertaining person, but it didn't take long for his reactions - or, rather, his lack of them and the way he'd brush aside He Tian's tricks - to bore him. Then along came Mo Guanshan. Mo Guanshan gets angry, shakes when he's scared, snaps easily, and is just generally amusing. So He Tian latched onto that, as entertainment and someone to push around. Someone who didn't look at his charming smile and fell instantly at his feet, but rather had to be threatened into it.
But wait, there's more. He Tian most likely decided to get closer to Jian Yi because he knew that his father is involved in the mob and that most like puts his son in danger, and he seems to be monitoring him and making sure that nothing happens to him. Sometimes he gives Guanshan either completely stupid and pointless tasks or makes him come and cook for him not only because he likes fucking with him or because he shouldn't eat takeout all the time since he can't cook, but also because he knows that Guanshan doesn't have a lot of money but He Tian does. He also knows that Guanshan would rather die than accept handouts. So he gives him jobs instead.
Despite the carefree, impish, asshole-ish front He Tian likes to put up, he sure is very concerned about his friends. Enough to get murderously angry and happy to get his hand cut up to protect those he cares about. He acts tough and blasé so that people can't get an upper hand against him, works hard to be strong and in control so that he can keep others safe. Ever since he was a kid he wanted to be strong so he could protect people. Save people. He's willing to do shady stuff, to throw himself under the bus, to ruin himself for the sake of protecting others.
And it seems like those people who he thinks needs his protection, like Mo Guanshan and Jian Yi (and thus, in extension, Zhang Zhengxi because he's attached to Jian Yi's hip), ended up being the only real friends he has. There's no sign of any family, though he lives in an apartment that a relative pays for, and that's where he gets his money from, but he doesn't have a relationship with any of them. So that makes those three boys the only true friends he actually has.
In fact, he doesn't know how to be a part of someone's life without being needed. Doesn't know how to connect to someone who doesn't need his protection. Would rather they flock around him and swoon over that shallow mask that he wears. Before He Tian met those three, he was a pretty lonely person.
As far as everyone else knows, He Tian is perfect, and he tries very hard to paint himself as such. Perfect, charming, incredible, someone who has everything together. He keeps a careful mask on at all times, never lets others see if he's emotional. But he is, and feels everything quite strongly, and perhaps the only thing that's hard for him to keep hold at bay is the anger he feels when someone he cares for is threatened. He doesn't necessarily know what to do with emotions aside from suppress and hide them, so if they get too big to contain he's ... lost.
The physical is a lot easier to understand, smiles and taunts and fists and teeth, so that's what he sticks to. When he's not being charming and sweet, he's the kind of guy who pulls your hair because he likes you, incredibly immature in how he deals with affection and actual, real feelings.
But he could learn to be better, and largely has. When Guanshan changed from being a plaything to someone actually important to him, he started thinking that perhaps he didn’t have to be what he thought he had to be. He is still wary of coming off as weak and tries to play tough for that reason, but ultimately he has a desire to be better.
